PRONEX is constructed from two flexible closed-cell foam moldings, which separate via an inflatable bellows. The top molding provides support and pull at the occiput, while the bottom molding provides an even base at the upper trapezius as a counterforce.
The traction unit is designed to be used in the supine position (Harris, 1977), and through design, does not put any pressure on the TMJ. Via the molding/bellow design, the normal cervical lordosis is constantly supported and promoted by this device. The pressure level is controlled by the patient using an inflator bulb with a pressure release valve (identical to a standard sphygmanometer).
